One of our favorite ladies returns with a great new band--EXTRA CLASSIC!

 

Nearly two years ago we fell head over heels in love with a little record called Smoke Rings, the debut solo record from Dri (aka Adrianne Verhoeven). The record was a total breath of fresh air and a nice reminder of what makes Verhoeven (who was once a member of a late, great band called The Anniversary) such a treasure. So now  every time a Dri track pops up on our iTunes (which is often), we have to wonder--what she's been up to? And when is she gonna hit us with some new music?

Well, now we know. Apparently, Verhoeven packed up all her best feather earrings and reggae records and hi-tailed it from Lawrence, Kansas out to San Francisco in order to kick start a new band. The appropriately-named EXTRA CLASSIC is a blast of old-school, summertime, rootsy, dubby, reggae-flavored goodness that is proving to be a guaranteed antidote to the winter blues. The band is deep into recording a debut album at the moment, but you can peep some tracks and check out upcoming tour dates on the band's freshly launched Myspace page. We're ready for more.
